In recent months, the urban mobility market in Paris has seen an influx of new service providers who are poised to compete with traditional taxis. The latest entrant is called Le Cab, which offers a 24/7 chauffeur-driven car booking service via a dedicated application, the website and by telephone. Its added value: the announcement of a fixed fare when the order is placed, with no extra charge for late journeys. Journeys between the Paris city centre and the two main airports, for example, cost around €35 to Orly and €45 to Roissy. A hundred or so Peugeot 508 micro hybrids are already plying the streets of the capital, offering a little something extra for business customers: access to Wi-Fi. Cab has not hesitated to set its sights high for the French market. Its founder and chairman Benjamin Cardoso hopes to have 4,500 cars in the next ten years, and an extension of the service to Lyon is already being considered for 2014.
