Three years after its creation by paediatric cardiac surgeon Dr David Luu, The Heart Fund will be holding its first gala on 21 May. And it's in a majestic setting - the Grand Salon of the Hôtel Carlton - and an equally prestigious timing - the 66th Festival de Cannes - that the Generous People event is expected to bring together some 200 guests at the famous Cannes hotel. Among them will be His Highness Prince Norodom Ravichak, Ambassador to the Office of His Majesty the King of Cambodia, as well as Enzo di Taranto, Ambassador to the United Nations, and Tom Bernard, Chairman and Co-Founder of Sony Pictures Classics, who will accept the invitation from the endowment fund set up in 2010. The event, which will be held under the patronage of the Presidential Advisory Council for Economic Development and Investment in Haiti, aims to raise funds to finance the construction of a hospital in Haiti, as well as training medical staff and funding surgery for children with heart disease. The organisers of the event hope to raise the funds needed to operate on 100 children.
