Download your boarding pass in less than 10 seconds, then access it on your smartphone without Internet access: this is the new step taken by easyJet for business and leisure travellers. It's an approach that is still in its infancy, with six European airports involved in the trial. Nice is one of the airports selected by the airline, along with London Stansted and Southend, Manchester, Edinburgh and Amsterdam. The application is compatible with Apple's Passbook, and allows boarding passes to be downloaded up to thirty days before the flight and two hours before departure. It is not yet known how quickly this approach could be rolled out across the board, but other features are already planned: "This is already the fastest application of its kind, and the next decisive step in our drive to make travel simpler and more affordable is to make mobile boarding passes widely available," says Peter Duffy, easyJet's Marketing Director. "Once the trial is successful, we will work with individual airports to roll out this new feature across our network. The experience will also be extended to make multiple boarding passes available on the same smartphone, so that several members of the same family can benefit by using one or more numbers, depending on their preference". Available on the App Store and Android, the easyJet app is due to arrive on Windows 7/8 and Blackberry systems by the end of 2013.
