The "Future of travel" study published on 14 October by Egencia and Expedia is based on data collected between 20 August and 12 September by Harris Interactive. A total of 8,535 employees were surveyed on five continents and in 24 countries, including France. The document, which in places resembles a portrait of the modern business traveller, compares the attitudes of travellers according to their generation. This approach reveals the increased mobility of younger professionals: employees aged between 18 and 30 make an average of 4.7 business trips each year, compared with 3.6 for those aged between 30 and 45, and 3.3 for those over 46. The youngest travellers are also said to spend the most on company funds. 46% of 18-30 year olds would spend more money on their meals on business than on holiday, compared with 26% of 46-65 year olds. This trend also applies to service (37% versus 21%). Finally, more than a third (36%) of the youngest business travellers would tend to extend their trip as part of their leisure activities, compared with 18% in the oldest age group (46-65).
