iPass study: a hefty bill for connected business travel

Rethink Technology and iPass have published the Cost of Connectivity Index for business travellers: an opportunity to better measure the financial impact of technological mobility, depending on the type of connection (4g or WiFi).

According to the report published by iPass and Rethink Technology, "providing access to an unlimited global Wi-Fi network could save businesses around €1.2 billion out of the €2 billion spent in direct and indirect costs by business travellers to stay connected via cellular roaming, pay-as-you-go Wi-Fi or free Wi-Fi". Business travel within Europe would involve connection costs of between €77 and €384. Internationally, the range would be between €1,316 and €1,923, according to the same report, which estimates that data consumption on business trips now averages 4.5 GB per month.
