"With advances in technology and the ever-increasing choice available to travellers, compliance with the travel programme is a battle that some companies are losing."In its latest white paper, Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) highlights the difficulties companies face in enforcing their business travel guidelines. Difficulties which, according to a recent study by the consultancy CWT Solutions Group, companies can reduce missed savings by 15 % just by enforcing their policy.

The white paper Behavior Management: a new way to think about an old problem looks at how business travellers can be made more responsible for complying with company policy. "Travellers often think that the policy does not necessarily concern them or, quite simply, they are not aware of it.says Christophe Renard, Vice-Chairman of Solutions Group. The effective application of this policy is one of the most difficult aspects of travel management, but it is also one of the major sources of unrealized savings."

Solutions Group has developed the Traveler 360 (T360) system to give companies new ways of improving compliance with travel policy and influencing traveller behaviour. We want to ensure that compliance is at its highest. When it is, the percentage of unrealized savings falls almost immediately."says Christophe Renard.

This traveller engagement system is organised in four phases, starting with the identification of non-compliance problems through an analysis of potential savings and the different traveller segments. The second phase involves educating travellers by creating assessment sheets to inform the various parties involved, using language that is familiar to them. These scorecards, which contain individualised reports, are sent directly to the travellers concerned. Thanks to the clear data contained in the reports, managers can better discuss their booking behaviour with employees. This system is complemented by a gamification programme to educate travellers and motivate them in a fun way to comply with the policy.
