The calculation made by ECA international takes into account the average cost of a four-star hotel ($373), plus food ($241) and urban transport and ancillary expenses ($93). Swiss cities dominate the top 10 most expensive European destinations, due to the relatively strong Swiss franc against the dollar compared with other European currencies. ". He added: " Last year, the cost of a typical business trip to central London fell by around 13% in dollar terms, with the fall in the value of the pound against the dollar contributing to this phenomenon. Tourism and international business travel [to London] have been boosted by the fall in the value of the pound. However, from a local perspective, Central London has actually become more expensive over the last twelve months, with prices for four-star hotels rising, as well as for food and transport, which is bad news for British people travelling to the capital. ".
From his side, Paris ($577) ranks fourth in the ECA rankings, with an average daily cost two dollars lower than in London, while Sarajevo comes last.
On a global scale, it is New York which is the most expensive destination ($790), Luanda (651), Muscat (501) and Tokyo (537) dominating the other regional rankings.
