HOTELS
QT Sydney

Straddling two characterful buildings in the heart of the CBD - the State Theatre and the Gowings Building - the address has made the most of this architectural wealth by distilling just the right amount of modernism and boldness. The atmosphere inherited from the theatre is enhanced by fashy tones. The historical nods contrast with the digital works of art that bring the hotel's corridors to life. Each of the 200 rooms is resolutely trendy, with a dozen original decorations by Shelly Indyk. The perfectionism of the QT Hotel, a member of the Design Hotels, is evident right down to the receptionists, who put on their make-up every morning to perpetuate the building's theatrical tradition.

Sheraton on the park

As its name suggests, the Sheraton on The Park overlooks the green lung of the business district, Hyde Park. The hotel's 18 meeting rooms provide a strategic retreat for its predominantly business clientele. The hotel and its 557 rooms and suites will benefit from a general makeover next year. However, the lobby and historic façade, emblematic of the hotel, will be preserved in their original state.

Fraser suites

Opened in 2007 near Temple Station and housed in a skyscraper designed by Norman Foster, Fraser Suites Sydney was the first of the Frasers group's four representatives on the Australian market. Its refurbishment, completed in 2014, has enabled the hotel to keep up with international standards in each of its 201 flats, from studios to two-bedroom suites. The hotel is particularly noted for its free WiFi access - still all too rare in Australia - and its award-winning fitness centre.

Shangri-La

In the heart of the pleasant district of The Rocks, the Shangri-La offers 565 rooms and suites from which travellers can enjoy the city skyline. As a bonus, they all boast a comfortable surface area, ranging from 40 m2 to almost 250 m². The renovation of the upper floors, completed in 2014, will be followed this year by that of the Altitude restaurant, renowned both for the quality of its cuisine and for its views of Sydney Harbour and Sydney Opera House.

Intercontinental

An emblematic building in the Central Business District, the InterContinental has been enthroned just a stone's throw from Circular Quay for almost thirty years. The historic dimension of this 509-room and suite hotel is particularly evident in its atrium. It's a majestic place where you can enjoy a coffee while admiring the arcades and brick walls surrounding the Café Cortile, on the very site of the former Treasury Building, built in 1851. The meetings catalogue has fifteen meeting rooms, covering a total surface area of 1,820 m².

RESTAURANTS
Mr. Wong
Like Australia, Sydney's cuisine has been influenced by many cultures. Asia is one of the main suppliers of gastronomic riches. The Merival group, omnipresent in the hospitality field, pays a fine tribute to Cantonese cuisine through its Mr. Wong restaurant, all in a refined setting. Right in the heart of the CBD, businessmen and corporate events are well catered for in this 240-seat restaurant spread over two floors.

Pony Dining The Rocks
The very 'new western' character of this address in the historic district of The Rocks means you can escape the vertical confines of the CBD in just ten minutes' walk. On the menu: seafood that contributes to Australia's gastronomic reputation and delicious meats cooked over a wood fire, praised like vintage wines.

Pineapple

Regularly snapped up by local businesses looking for a place that's central, original and gourmet, the Ananas restaurant sees itself as "a corner of Paris in the middle of The Rocks", Sydney's oldest district. Indeed, the restaurant's 1920s decor and atmosphere have the air of an old Parisian brasserie. Similarly, the menu prepared by chef Damien Brassel smacks of made in France, from snails to duck confit and bouillabaisse.

Bennelong
Located on the ground floor of the famous Opera House, the star of Sydney's gastronomic scene reopened its doors in summer 2015. To add to the prestige of the place, the restaurant has enlisted the services of chef Peter Gilmore, who also runs one of the country's most renowned restaurants, the Quay, regularly ranked in the world's top 50.
