The Patek Philippe Museum is one of Geneva's most popular museums. Its prestigious collection of watches - those designed by the famous watchmaker of Polish origin, but also a whole series of models retracing the history of watchmaking - allows visitors to step back in time through masterpieces of meticulousness and refinement. In the institutions district, further north, the ICRC museum and a visit to the Palais des Nations (UN) are great classics. In fine weather, themed cruises offer a change of pace as you take time to admire the city from the water's edge of Lake Geneva.

Why not spend half a day exploring Carouge, Geneva's 'bobo' neighbour, with its trendy bars, boutiques and antique shops? Or head out of town to visit the vineyards and enjoy a wine tasting. The most motivated travellers can even take advantage of a free day to go skiing. Chamonix can be reached in just 40 minutes.
Shopping
The Left Bank and the banking district are packed with shops to suit all budgets, even if luxury goods predominate. Rue du Rhône is the street most representative of local tradition, with numerous watchmaking and Swiss chocolate shops. The parallel arteries - the "lower streets" of Confédération, Marché and Rive - are a favourite target for fashionistas, who can shop in one of the many ready-to-wear stores located here. The Globus department stores and the Manor centre offer a wide choice of more affordable shops, as well as restaurants.
