From the business district, just cross the bridge to see the imposing three-headed building that houses the Radissonoverlooking the right bank of the River Ichim. There are business trips to the city centre, and then there are those - often more laborious - that are concentrated on exhibition centres... For this second case, the Hilton Astana is virtually unavoidable. Revolving

This table perched at 23^e floor of the complex Soluxe Hotel offers a breathtaking view of Astana and its business district. And with good reason: the restaurant turns slowly on itself - hence its name, "Revolving - so you don't miss a thing of the Kazakh capital. The relatively formal service is backed up by iPads that act as menus and allow you to order directly. As for the cuisine, which is mainly Asian, the dishes are of a real delicacy without inflating the bill. Nothing really revolutionary, but a sure bet for a business dinner.

Enlivened by climbing plants and tastefully decorated, Aura is also equipped with private areas for business lunches. Satti is a celebration of Kazakh cuisine and culture. The kitsch-chic décor is dominated by a central stage where traditional artists regularly perform. The menu includes a small amount of European cuisine, so as not to be too disorientating for business travellers. But if you're dining over 5,000 kilometres from Paris, you might as well opt for local specialities. Satti is renowned for its beshbarmak, the Kazakh dish par excellence. But don't forget to try the horsemeat...

Restaurant Alley

On the western fringe of the business district, more specifically on Turan AvenueA string of restaurants attracts both locals and visiting professionals. By imitating a Korean temple here, a Georgian monument there or Ukrainian architectural elements elsewhere - always disproportionate, very fake reproductions - this 'restaurant alleyway' gives itself an air of the Strip from Las Vegas. Much calmer...
