Air France: HOP! on the brink of extinction?

Benjamin Smith, head of the Air France KLM group, is considering scrapping the HOP! brand, according to La Tribune.
HOP DR
HOP! is said to be in the sights of Ben Smith, the boss of Air France KLM (DR)

Benjamin Smith is clearly not a fan of the Air France KLM group's brand portfolio, of which it has took the helm during the summer. Less than a month after closed the short parenthesis Joon the boss of the Franco-Dutch group is considering taking on HOP!according to information published on 30th January by La Tribune. Air France's regional subsidiary, created six years ago from the merger of Brit Air, Régional and Airlinair, would have the same disadvantage as Joon: it would confuse foreign customers. Ben Smith intends to capitalise on the Air France brand image, and more generally on a certain prestige associated with 'French-style' service. It remains to be seen what will happen to the HOP! network, which has provided the airline with a solid share of business customers. Indeed, while the French sky is distinguished by its ultra-centralised modelHOP! operates many routes between regional airports.

HOP
The density of the HOP! network, particularly on the domestic market, ensures a comfortable share of business customers.
