Integrated into its mobile application, this technology now allows passengers to simply scan their hand luggage with their smartphone camera. The tool measures luggage dimensionsand tells the user whether they will be accepted on board.
This new feature - based onApple named "ARKit 2 - is therefore currently limited to users of the iOS operating system, and more specifically to owners of devices whose release date does not exceed that of theiPhone 6S.
EasyJet is not the first airline to try its hand at augmented reality for checking baggage dimensions. In September 2018, for example, the KLM app had already integrated such a feature.
