The airline announced this on 29th July This new format will be used to label no fewer than 8 million baggage items from next year. This RFID tagging should not only improve the identification and tracking of baggage, but also reduce operating costs, as Alain-Hervé Bernard, Executive Vice President Operations and Cargo at Air France, explains: " With more than 50 million customers transported on board our aircraft every year, the technology RFID provides us with an innovative response to improve baggage tracking and identificationto guarantee their transit under optimum safety and security conditions, reduce our costs and improve our operational performance by reducing the time taken to search for missing items ". Conducted in partnership with Paris Aéroport, this project will start at the airline's hub at Paris CDG, but Air France is already planning to extend it to other airports.
