Lille is a business destination through and through

What does Euralille represent for the city, and what is the role of the sites of excellence?

François Navarro - Euralille is a major asset in terms of attractiveness. It's a growing area, and there's still plenty of room for manoeuvre: there are a number of structural projects to come, and new architectural ideas to be invented. The metropolis is very large, and the competitiveness clusters and sectors of excellence will enable us to loosen up the centre of Lille a little. It's about creating sectors that attract companies and ecosystems.

What advantages does Lille have to offer business customers?

François Navarro - Lille is very much a business destination. It's in its DNA and even accounts for 70 % of overnight stays in hotels. Lille is a destination for commerce and trade at the heart of EuropeWith so many European capitals within easy reach. For companies setting up here, there is also the question of affordability and know-how in certain sectors of commerce, distance selling and new technologies.

What hurdles still need to be overcome to take the destination to the next level?

François Navarro - The metropolis has many assets, but not everyone is necessarily aware of them. There are certain clichés that need to be exploded. This is why the city has created the Hello LilleIt brings together all the players in the business, culture and events sectors, and is out to win market share by taking on the role of challenger.
