In order to offer its passengers wider fare options, at the best price, and with more choice, Air France-KLM introduces a Light fare option in the Business cabin and in Premium Comfort (KLM) and Premium Economy (Air France) classes. The fare does, of course, offer all the on-board services and comfort of these classes of travel. But it also certain advantages inherent to both cabins.
In Premium Economy or Premium Comfort, tickets can only be changed at extra cost. Lower baggage allowance Instead of two pieces of baggage, passengers can take a 23 kg suitcase with them free of charge. Any additional baggage is charged at the same price as baggage in Economy Light. The only other free benefit: passengers travelling in Premium Economy Light benefit from Sky Priority check-in.
In Business Class Lightcustomers can still take away free of charge one piece of checked luggage weighing 32kginstead of two for a traditional fare. Access to the exhibition will be charged for, and any changes to reservations will also be billed. The Sky Priority service, on the other hand, remains in place.
Passengers can always choose purchase individual services separately, for example of luggage options. Any additional baggage can be purchased as an option. at the time of booking or later in "My Trip" on KLM.com or "Your Trip" on KLM.com. reservations" on Airfrance.com.
Another major difference: Light fares are non-refundable.
This tariff option came into effect on 24 April on the following destinations:
- Europe (including France and the Netherlands) to all intercontinental destinations worldwide¹.
- from the Caribbean and Indian Ocean to all destinations worldwide².

However, the difference in price between Light and Standard is very slight. It is only 100 euros in Business and between 60 and 75 euros in Premium Economy. So it's fair to ask whether this is a really sensible option...
