100 years in the air, 100 destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America. This is what is communicated American Airlines, on the occasion of its centenary. The American giant is indeed strengthening its network in Latin America and the Caribbean, reaching the symbolic milestone of 100 destinations with its winter schedule.
The two new routes that American Airlines will launch will therefore connect Miami, American's Latin America hub, to Maracaibo in Venezuela and Cap-Haïtien in Haiti.
" More than any other airline, American connects the United States to Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America. We uphold this commitment by offering the most flights to the most destinations in the region of any US carrier. », highlighted Nat Pieper, Chief Commercial Officer of American Airlines, upon the announcement of these two new routes.
In fact, American Airlines offers nearly 50% more routes in Latin America and the Caribbean than its nearest US competitor. This coverage enables business travellers, in particular, to access several regional markets directly, without having to endure often lengthy and complicated connections.
The company thus offers non-stop flights to destinations that are little or not at all served by other American companies, such as Anguilla, Bimini (Bahamas), Ocho Rios (Jamaica), South Caicos (Turks and Caicos) or Montevideo (Uruguay).
From 14 July, American Airlines will add a new route between Miami and Maracaibo to its two daily flights between Miami and Caracas, the only non-stop service between the United States and this important business destination in Venezuela. The flights will be operated by Embraer 175 aircraft, equipped with a premium cabin and free high-speed Wi-Fi.
The airline will also resume its operations to Haiti with the opening of a daily route between Miami and Cap-Haïtien from 1 November. Flights will be operated by Boeing 737 aircraft, with a premium cabin and free Wi-Fi.

Miami, a strategic hub for the Americas
The Miami is at the heart of American Airlines' regional development strategy, with over 410 daily departures at peak times. This winter, many new offerings will be added to this hub, including:
- Two daily flights to Rio de Janeiro;
- Up to eight daily flights to San Juan (Puerto Rico);
- Up to four daily flights to St Thomas (US Virgin Islands);
- Two daily flights to Antigua from October 5th;
- Up to six daily flights to Tortola (British Virgin Islands);
- Three daily flights to Exuma (Bahamas) between 17 December 2026 and 5 April 2027;
- Two daily flights to Saint Kitts during the same period.
American Airlines will also continue its investments in Miami to enhance its appeal to business and premium customers. The programme notably includes the opening of a new Flagship Lounge. The current lounge will become an Admiral’s Club for frequent flyers. The carrier also plans the complete modernisation of Terminal D at the airport, which serves as the company’s main international terminal. The new space will allow for the creation of 17 new waiting rooms with direct boarding onto aircraft, which will eliminate the need for bus transfers.
