The US Department of Transportation (DOT) has authorised an extended codeshare between US carrier JetBlue Airways and British Airways. The two airlines submitted their application at the end of May and it was quickly approved.
Through this agreement, British Airways will be able to add its own code to 75 routes on 39 JetBlue domestic destinations from Boston and New York. In return, JetBlue Airways will add its own code on 17 British Airways European destinations from London-Heathrow. These include Berlin, Brussels, Frankfurt, Munich and Paris. According to the DOT, the code-share agreement between the two companies is open-ended.
In a press release, JetBlue explained: " We're always looking for new ways to give our customers more choice when they travel. Thanks to this new codeshare, customers will be able to book a single ticket to travel on both airlines, enabling them to expand their network of destinations in Europe and the United States" .
Departing from Paris-CDGJetBlue connects New York JFK and Boston. The carrier is also present on the Amsterdam-New York route. In the UK, in addition to its daily services from London Heathrow to Boston and New York JFK, JetBlue inaugurated a daily Airbus A321neo service from Edinburgh to New York at the end of May.
