One might have thought that the launch of the new high-speed rail link might discourage some airlines. This is clearly not the case: eleven years after its arrival on theairport BordeauxeasyJet will even be taking up residence at the Gironde hub. The airline's sixth base will be set up here in spring 2018. Three devices Airbus A320s will be installed, enabling easyJet to significantly increase its capacity at Bordeaux airport (+21%) to 2.2 million seats. In total, easyJet will have a capacity of some 22 million seats on the French market. The inauguration of this base will also mean the launch of five new routes.
EasyJet now boasts 17% business travellers in BordeauxThe airline has chosen Bordeaux, mainly attracted by its domestic routes to Lyon, Marseille and Nice. According to information released on Monday, the airline chose Bordeaux because of its relatively long-standing presence, the maturity of the market, the loyalty of local customers and the airport's investment policy.
