After announcing the installation of its France's seventh base at Nantes airporteasyJet is setting out its ambitions. The airline has just announced the forthcoming opening of eight new lines from mainland France. From 31 MarchThere will be three flights a week to Rome Fiumicino and two flights will serve Granada airport. Business travellers can also go to Copenhagen from April with three flights a week. EasyJet will also be opening routes to BilbaoMarrakech and Tenerife. During the summer season, the airline will be linking Nantes to Bastia and Dubrovnik.
EasyJet plans to welcome no less than 1.9 million passengers in 2019 departing from Nantes - a quarter of the airport's annual traffic - using three Airbus aircraft, as Reginald Otten, easyJet's deputy managing director for France, explains: " With six historic bases in France, easyJet has made the Greater West of France its priority, and this is reflected in the opening of a base in Nantes next spring. The three Airbus aircraft based there will enable us to operate a greater number of destinations locally and we are delighted to announce these eight new routes in Nantes, which represent almost half of the new routes in France in 2019. ".
For his part, the director of Nantes Atlantique airport, François Marie, said: " We are delighted that 8 destinations have been opened up with the launch of the easyJet base in response to the expectations of leisure and business passengers, including Granada and Bilbao, which previously had no direct service. The development of easyJet through the creation of a base at Nantes Atlantique has the advantage of offering a year-round flight schedule and optimising airport resources by limiting peak effects. ".
17 new routes in France
EasyJet is not stopping with its expansion in Nantes, as it has also announced the addition of nine other new routes. The airline will link Montpellier to Bristol, Nice to Rennes and Paris-Charles de Gaulle to London-Stansted from spring 2019. It will also be offering four new destinations from its Bordeaux base: Granada, Lanzarote, Porto and Menorca. In addition, easyJet will be serving two Spanish cities, Seville and Tenerife, from Lyon airport from April.
