Etihad and China Eastern fly side by side

Etihad and China Eastern Airlines recently signed a letter of intent with a view to further cooperation between the two airlines. All that's missing now is government authorisation.

Etihad and China Eastern Airlines are referring to a "historic agreement", which should lead to a code share between the two airlines. In addition to this code share, the Chinese and Emirati carriers plan to coordinate their flight plans and schedules. Business travellers will also benefit from full reciprocity between the two frequent flyer programmes, and access to their airport lounges. "We will look at further opportunities to expand our cooperation with China Eastern Airlines and invite them to operate to our base in Abu Dhabi and beyond," says James Hogan, CEO of Etihad Airways.
