After announcing the opening of a new route to the Vietnamese capital on 29 November, Finnair is now unveiling its thirteenth Asian destination at the end of 2012: Xi'an. The Chinese megalopolis, with a population of some 8 million, is home to a wealth of companies in the aerospace and software publishing sectors. Finnair will operate three flights a week with its A330-300 aircraft, every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. Departures from Paris are scheduled at 10.50am, arriving in Xi'an the following morning at 6.30am, after a stopover in Helsinki. The return flight will leave China at 10.35am, arriving in Paris at 6.10pm. "The rapid development of China's economy means that there is strong demand from travellers to connect Europe with China, thus creating new opportunities," notes Mika Vehviläinen, CEO of Finnair. "Since our first service to Beijing in 1988, we have been pioneering connections between Europe and China. We're delighted to be able to offer our passengers the fastest route between a dozen European destinations and China".
