Finnair has announced that it will soon be joining the joint venture between American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia. According to the press release published on Monday, this entry is scheduled for "during 2013", and will enable the joint venture to operate up to 102 daily return flights between North America and Europe, to 42 destinations. The new codeshare will optimise the connections offered to business travellers, enabling them to earn miles on the relevant frequent flyer programmes, namely Iberia Plus, American Airlines AAdvantage®, British Airways Executive Club and Finnair Plus. "Our participation in this joint venture will significantly increase the number of destinations served by Finnair to its existing customers and provide Northern Europe with a new network of potential travellers," says Allister Paterson. Finnair's Senior Commercial Vice President added: "The compatibility between the four airlines also gives customers greater flexibility, since the fare conditions are identical between the airlines. Business travellers will soon be able to take advantage of this flexibility by flying between Europe and North America on American Airlines, British Airways, Iberia and Finnair routes".
