"Europe remains a growth market for us": Nick Pendred, Cathay Pacific

Nick Pendred is Cathay Pacific's Director of Sales and Marketing for France.

Is Cathay Pacifc resisting the sluggish economy in Europe?

Nick pendred - For the past three years, Europe has been weighed down by a number of negative factors. The cost of operations on this continent is among the highest. To try and limit the increase in costs, we have focused on strengthening the major European hubs. This means, for example, five daily flights between London and Hong Kong, as well as two daily flights to Paris. We should also be increasing to two daily frequencies to Frankfurt in 2014. And we are still maintaining our routes to Amsterdam, Milan and Rome. Europe remains a buoyant market for us, especially as we are seeing a rebalancing of market shares. Whereas just a few years ago, China accounted for only 10 to 15 % of our passengers, its market share now stands at 40 %.

Are you satisfied with the launch of your premium economy class?

N. P. - In France, it was less of a smash hit than I'd imagined.
