GBTA-Sabre survey: Travel Managers optimistic

The GBTA Foundation and Sabre have published the Travel Manager 2020 study, dedicated to the changing role of the Travel Manager in the company, and the influence of new technologies, mobile phones and virtual payment.

"Technology will become increasingly important to travel managers as they seek to expand their role and further demonstrate the added value they bring to their organisation": this analysis is signed by Joseph Bates, Vice President of Research at the GBTA. It is a good illustration of the message conveyed by the new study published by the GBTA Foundationproduced in partnership with Sabreentitled Travel Manager 2020. According to this survey of some 230 Travel ManagersA large majority of professionals (61%) feel that evaluating and integrating new technologies is a 'very important' part of their job. And 75% believe that this will be the case in the near future. Applications related to mobile booking and the duty to protect (duty of care) are focusing the attention of Travel Managers. And they see these technological advances as an opportunity for their profession. In fact, according to the Travel Manager 2020 study, 84% of Travel Managers expect their role in the company to become even more crucial over the next three to five years, thanks to mobile technologies, virtual payments and data collection and analysis.
