The first Iberia Express aircraft finally took off on Sunday 25 March, marking the debut of the new low-cost airline. A few days earlier, the Iberia subsidiary had already joined the Oneworld network as an affiliate member. The various internal reservations, crystallised by the numerous strikes launched in recent weeks, will not have slowed Iberia's counter-offensive on the low-cost market: a move which Air France officials are also considering. Based in Madrid, Iberia Express currently serves four domestic airports - Alicante, Málaga, Palma and Seville - ahead of an international opening planned for this summer: Amsterdam, Naples and Dublin will then be added to the Spanish airline's offer, which will reach 17 destinations.
