Marseille Provence airport is preparing to round off a particularly buoyant 2012. On Tuesday, the airport published its passenger traffic figures for the year to date, showing an increase of almost one million passengers since the start of the year compared with the same period in 2011. No fewer than 7.7 million passengers travelled via Marseille airport between 1 January and 30 November 2012. "Mp airport recorded the best growth in passenger traffic of the major French airports and one of the best of the major European airports, with traffic up by 13.9%", says the airport in a press release, which highlights the role of the new routes opened in 2012, notably by Air France, Ryanair and Vueling. Management at the Provencal airport are now looking ahead to 2013, which should see a continuation of this good momentum, thanks to Marseille's status as European Capital of Culture.
