Sense of hospitality, climate, natural and cultural diversity: few destinations can offer such a variety of resources to MICE event organisers.

Lisbon: the assets of a capital city, the charm of a resort destination

Head for south-west Europe to discover Lisbon, where summer lasts for most of the year. Bathed in sunshine and with its feet in the water, the Portuguese capital has a number of natural advantages that make it an ideal setting for organising meetings and incentive operations. The reputation of the seven hills and the river Tagus is well established. And yet, Lisbon is still seen as an alternative, 'trendy' destination by the general public and especially by companies.

And if the aesthetic argument wasn't enough, the Portuguese capital can boast a number of practical advantages, such as an airport located just a few minutes from the city centre. The Humberto Delgado airport's international network makes life easier for participants from all over the world attending MICE events.

This proximity can also be found in atypical destinations such as the UNESCO World Heritage village of Sintra, the Cascais coastline and the Arrábida Nature Park: exceptional sites that are easily accessible from Lisbon. This is the charm of the Lisbon destination, able to combine the charm of a historic urban centre with the advantages of a resort destination. In short: a capital by the sea that opens up a vast array of possibilities for organisers of MICE events.

Lisbon's 'Golf Coast' was even awarded the title of 'European Golf Destination of the Year' in 2016 by the prestigious IAGTO (International Golf Tour Operators Association). Proof, if proof were needed, that the courses at Oitavos, Praia del Rey and Estoril Golf Club can host the greatest champions, as well as corporate events.

Lisbon continues to add to its catalogue, in order to attract more and more companies. This year, for example, the Amoreiras Towers inaugurated their new rooftop, 'Amoreiras 360', to give visitors a better view of the Lisbon skyline from a height, while awaiting the new platform that will be installed on the famous 25 April Bridge to mark its fiftieth anniversary, perched 70 metres above the River Tagus. But if there's one sector in which the Portuguese capital excels, and has done for centuries, it's culture. The new museum dedicated to the Great Discoveries continues this tradition, as does the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT), recently opened in the Belém district: all new options for events combining culture and originality, heritage and modernity.
