A fire broke out on Tuesday night in a multi-storey car park near the airport terminal at London Luton mobilised all the security forces and the fire brigade to contain it. All flights were suspended this morning, although airport management estimates that flights will resume until 3pm (4pm Paris time)..
This spectacular fire weakened the structure of the car park. It could potentially collapse. Hence the need for widespread mobilisation. Luton Airport management is advising passengers not to travel to the airport at this time.because access remains very limited".
Luton is Greater London's fourth busiest airport, handling over 13 million passengers a year. From France, Easyjet offers up to three flights a day from CDG to Luton. The airline serves Lyon-Luton with one daily flight, Nice-Luton with 10 weekly flights and Bordeaux-Luton with four weekly flights.. Ryanair flies three times a week from Béziers. Easyjet also operates two daily flights from Geneva to Luton.
