A new hotel in Barcelona and a redesigned establishment in the heart of Madrid's financial district, a combo in Cork, developments in Africa and Dubai: the Marriott group is offering new hotels to business travellers. On its way to reaching the 100-hotel mark in Europe, the Moxy lifestyle brand, for example, has set up shop at BarcelonaThis new 414-bedroom hotel in the Sants district is ideal for business travellers. The new hotel features a rooftop with swimming pool, nine meeting rooms and the Plug In coworking space.
In Ireland, in tandem with the long-stay brand Residence Inn, Moxy has set up in Cork. Offering a lifestyle and residential mix in the country's second city, this dual-branded establishment combines 53 suites, with fully equipped kitchens and separate living and working areas, with 153 contemporary-designed rooms at the Moxy, all complemented by 'Plug and Meet' communal areas for working and relaxing.
For its part, the Westin brand added a second address in Madrid following the transformation of a hotel already in the Marriott group's fold: the AC Hotel Cuzco. Located in the heart of the Spanish capital's financial district, on the Paseo de la Castellana and just opposite the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, this establishment has been completely renovated to move upmarket and now offers 287 rooms, including 44 suites, as well as six meeting rooms for a MICE area of almost 600 m².
Other recent Marriott openings in Europe include a new boutique hotel in the Netherlandsin Nijmegen. Affiliated with the Tribute Portfolio brand, The Rebyl, Nijmegen, has transformed a former girls' school into a 97-room establishment, which also boasts a vast meeting space with an adjoining courtyard.
In the Africa and Middle East region, the South African brand Protea Hotels by Marriott has set up operations just a few minutes from Lusaka's Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, in ZambiaThe Protea by Marriott Delta is located in the heart of the business district of Warri, the largest city in Delta State. Offering 69 guest rooms, the Protea by Marriott Delta also features three multi-purpose conference rooms.
This new collection of business hotels within the American group is complemented by the opening at Dubai of the Renaissance Business Bay. Located in the city centre, along the Dubai Water Canal, this 251-room and suite hotel is ideal for relaxation with its many restaurants and outdoor swimming pool, as well as for corporate meetings, with a MICE area comprising 11 meeting rooms and a ballroom that can accommodate receptions for up to 250 people.
