
The Spanish Melia group will soon be opening a new chapter in the history of its luxury lifestyle brand ME by Melia. After Madrid, Ibiza and Sitges in Spain, as well as Milan, London and Dubai - the latter being one of the latest creations by the architect Zaha Hadidwho has since passed away -, the ME brand is preparing to do his Barcelona debuton the corner of the famous Passeig de Gràcia.
With 164 rooms and suites, the ME Barcelona is awaiting its opening, scheduled for 25 November, and from that date professionals visiting the Catalan metropolis will be able to discover an establishment that is as close as possible to the heart of the city. contemporary with interior design by Mur Arquitectos and ASAH. The furnishings were designed by Patricia Urquiola, Ronan & Ewan Bouroullec and Jaime Hayón, while the architectural concept was created by Barcelona studio FITARQ. The transformation of the building housing the hotel will take six years to complete.
Between contemporary art and innovative design, the brand's creative spirit is also reflected in three trendy gastronomic concepts with two restaurants created by the Belbo Collection group - the Mediterranean restaurant Terrenal and the Italian restaurant Fasto - and the cocktail bar Luma, opening onto a landscaped terrace of over 1,000 m2.
The hotel, which has a total of almost 3000 m2 of open-air areashas a proven sustainable dimension, with its own urban vegetable garden supplying its restaurants and the use of renewable energy with solar panels on the roof and heat recovery from the air conditioning for domestic hot water and heating the swimming pool in winter. Because there is a swimming pool, and a rooftop one of course, on the eighth floor, the roof terrace overlooking Plaça Catalunya. For relaxation, the hotel has also added a spa and an ultra-modern gym equipped with the latest Technogym machines.
