Fira Gran Via is an address well-known to the travel ecosystem, particularly for the IBTM trade show held there every November. From now on, it will also be the name of the first establishment Meininger in Barcelona and more broadly in Spain. On 25 June, the 162-room hotel – with more than 500 beds – will open its doors in the Catalan capital.
For its first steps in Spain, the German brand has chosen to entrust the keys of the hotel to a local contact. It is a true honour to become director of the first Meininger hotel in Spain, right here in my home town. » testifies Mariluz Álvarez, director of the Meininger Barcelona hotel. Barcelona is such a dynamic, diverse and vibrant city, making it a perfect choice for Meininger. We don’t just offer a place to stay. We help people discover a destination from the moment they step through our doors and truly connect with our unique atmosphere ".

The opening of the Barcelona establishment – the 37th in the network – marks a strong return for the brand, which had not opened a new location since 2023, when it established itself in Venice, Krakow and Cologne. This new momentum will soon be confirmed in the European market and beyond. New Meininger hotels are already expected in Edinburgh and Tel Aviv in 2026. Strasbourg will follow in 2027, then Porto and Dublin in 2028. As for the other Spanish business hub, MadridIt will also welcome the German brand from next year.
