Next spring, the low-cost carrier Monarch Airlines will become the 9th low-cost airline to serve Bordeaux airport. The airline will be launching a new flight between the Bordeaux hub and Birmingham from 22 May 2013: three flights will be operated each week - on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays - using A320 aircraft with 180 seats. Low-cost airlines already accounted for almost 30% of traffic in 2012, bringing together more than 1,300,000 passengers.
