Good news for the many travellers heading to Morocco For business, or for the sun: the boarding pass will gradually become mandatory in the country's major airports. The National Airports Office (ONDA), the public establishment that manages all the country's airports, announced this at the end of July.
Dubbed Pax Check, this device is part of the Airports 2030 strategy, which aims to transform the passenger experience. And it is indeed a major – and long-awaited – metamorphosis that this modernisation will enable.
Business travellers are already accustomed to the digitised journey. They will therefore soon be able to skip the printing of their boarding pass, a step that is at best outdated by 2026… The passenger will simply receive their boarding pass in the form of a secure QR code, thus benefiting from a smoother journey right up to boarding.
Nevertheless, the National Airports Office – or Airports of Morocco – plans a gradual rollout to airlines that have "met the technical, operational and regulatory prerequisites necessary for its integration". The timeline for this rollout has not yet been specified, whether for the carriers or the airports concerned. According to the Moroccan media, Ryanair would be at the forefront of adopting Pax Check, as would the airports of Marrakech-Menara, Fes, Agadir, Tangier, Nador and Oujda.
