Fourteen new boarding gates, 31 TSA checkpoints, 1.76 hectares, 1.90 billion euros of investment: this is the backdrop to the new Terminal 3 inaugurated a few days ago at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas. Against the backdrop of a final figure that sums up the ambitions of the 7th America's largest hub, with a capacity of 53 million passengers a year, five million more than the airport's last record, set in 2007. Bigger, but also more modern, the new terminal has introduced a host of initiatives to improve travel to and from Sin City. Free Wi-Fi, already available in the existing areas, has logically been extended to the new building - as well as to the terminal tarmac, enabling connection from aircraft before take-off - while the new "e-gates" are equipped with a self check-in system, complemented by screens displaying useful information for each destination served. More than fifteen airlines will now be operating from the new terminal 3, which should help to increase and fluidify traffic at McCarran airport.
