Not the metamorphosis of a historic site, as in Lille recently with the former headquarters of the Scalbert-Dupont bankThe Océania group is setting up in Lyon with the conversion of the former Median hotel in the 8th arrondissement. Bought by the Breton group in 2022, at the same time as another Median in Paris, which was also in the process of being converted, the hotel underwent a year's work to become the embodiment of the new design concept of the three-star Oceania brand.
This new positioning, which will be extended to Oceania's future mid-range hotels, features a contemporary décor and a specific theme for each establishment. A storytelling approach was quickly adopted for the 3* Oceania Lyon, with its interior garden which guided a theme centred on nature, reinforced by a strong eco-responsible dimension with the use of bio-sourced materials or, in the lobby, tables designed using beer dregs.
In the heart of the hotel, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this green space, created by landscape gardeners Jardins Foréziens, offers guests a soothing place to relax in fine weather, seated on the cushions and poufs installed on the wooden terrace surrounded by olive trees, evergreen shrubs and bamboo.
Conceived as an extension of this garden, the Patio restaurant offers the link between outside and inside with around thirty covers on the terrace and another thirty or so in a setting combining rattan seats and cane screens. The whole space can be used for private or business events.
