Qatar Airways resumes service to Rangoon

Qatar Airways resumed flights to Rangoon on 3 October, after four years off the Myanmar radar. The new route to Myanmar demonstrates the country's openness to foreign business travellers.

Qatar Airways aircraft have been flying over Burma again since last October. The Gulf carrier had suspended its operations in Myanmar in January 2008, and now operates three flights a week between Rangoon and Doha. The routes are operated by Airbus 319 aircraft configured in two classes: eight seats in Business Class and 102 in Economy. Rangoon International Airport thus becomes the first Asian hub to be added to the Qatar Airways schedule this year.
