A few days after the presentation of the new S4 satellite, it was the turn of the A/C link to be showcased by Aéroports de Paris at the inauguration of the new building on 11 April. At the end of an investment plan costing 69 million euros, the new 16,600 m² facility is designed to eventually handle more than 5 million passengers a year. Described by François Rubichon, Deputy CEO of Aéroports de Paris, as "a showcase for Aéroports de Paris' expertise", the building is also intended to "demonstrate what the Paris-Charles de Gaulle of tomorrow will be like". More concretely, in the eye of the traveller, this inauguration should augur a simpler journey within the Paris hub, by dedicating each floor to an identified function. "Designed to make it easier for passengers to find their way around, the A/C link makes it possible to completely rethink the way in which these two terminals, which are used in particular by airlines belonging to the Oneworld alliance, are operated", says ADP. After checking in at terminal 2A or 2C, passengers proceed to the dedicated screening room on the ground floor of the building, where the numerous facilities - 14 Police checkpoints and 14 screening checkpoints in a 3,400 m² area - should speed up the process. Once the checks have been carried out, the passenger's journey takes them to the first floor: an area of shops, bars and restaurants covering 2,300 m², then on to the boarding lounges. Business travellers will soon be able to take advantage of 3,300 m² of VIP lounges, with views of the runways. The inauguration of the new connecting building marks a new stage in the wider renovation of terminals A and C, scheduled for completion in the second half of 2013.
