Somewhere between James Bond and Fellini. To make its debut in Rome, Ruby Hotels drew inspiration from its host location - former offices of the Italian Ministry of the Interior - as well as from the dolce vita of its host city, magnified by the Italian film director. The design of its new hotel, which has just opened its doors, plays on glamorous cinematic touches with nods to the spy films of the 70s.
Since joining the IHG group earlier this year, the lifestyle brand has announced its arrival in Berlin in 2028, as well as Copenhagen and Malmö in Northern Europe, Athens in Southern Europe, and a second hotel in Geneva. But before that, it is making its debut in the Italian capital with, as always, a feminine code name, in this case Ruby Giulia.
Located in the Monti district, just a few steps from Piazza Venezia, the hotel offers 164 rooms in four categories - Cosy, Lovely, Wow and Loft - ranging in size from 17 to 31 m². Designed as an urban retreat in the heart of the city, the Ruby Giulia features a 24/7 bar and café, lounge areas and a rooftop terrace with panoramic views of the Eternal City.
At the same time, the Italian capital is home to another new hotel, again with a reference to the seventh art. More direct and more concrete, since one of the hotel's shareholders is none other than Robert de Niro, partner with producer Meir Teper of chef Nobu Matsuhisa within the Nobu Hotels group. The actor was in Rome on 6 November to take part in the traditional sake ceremony marking the opening of the Nobu Roma hotel-restaurant.
Located on the Italian capital's chic thoroughfare, Via Veneto - "the theatre of La Dolce Vita", according to a plaque erected there in homage to Fellini - this project is the result of the takeover of the Grand Hotel Veneto, which has been completely renovated under the guidance of a star interior designer, the Rockwell Group. Formerly under the Jumeirah banner in the mid-2010s, this venerable luxury hotel housed in a complex of two buildings dating from the end of the nineteenth century has been completely refurbished.e century.
A blend of Japanese minimalism and Italian sophistication, this design breathes new life into the hotel's 117 rooms and suites, including the Nobu Villa, comprising three rooms with terraces. Aimed at residents and guests alike, the hotel also boasts a rooftop bar. This is one of the hotel's event spaces, in addition to its lounges and restaurant. And of course there's the Nobu restaurant, with the chef's signature dishes such as black cod with miso, prawns in tempura and sushi and sashimi.
