On 28 October, Garuda Indonesia became the 42th Etihad's partner, via a new codeshare agreement between the two airlines. "Subject to regulatory approval, Garuda Indonesia will apply its 'GA' code on Etihad Airways flights from Jakarta to a total of 31 destinations in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, the Levant, Africa, Europe and North America," says Etihad in a press release. At the same time, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates is setting its sights high on another buoyant market: Russia. On the fourth anniversary of the non-stop service between Moscow and Abu Dhabi, Etihad intends to keep up the momentum. "The Moscow - Abu Dhabi route has been a huge success with high load factors and good traffic flows from our codeshare partner S7 Airlines," says James Hogan, President and CEO of Etihad Airways. He warns: "From now on, our objective is to increase our services and connections to Abu Dhabi and Moscow with S7".
