Air travel could be disrupted this Wednesday as a result of theevacuation of six French airports on the morning of 18th October. The airports of Beauvais, Lille, Lyon (Bron), Nantes, Nice and Toulouse are affected, with varying levels of disruption. According to initial information relayed by AFP, threats of attack have been sent by e-mail to staff at certain hubs. In other airports, suspicious packages were reported, notably at Nantes and Nice.
The airport of Nice announced shortly before midday on Wednesday, via X (formerly Twitter), that " the situation has returned to normal".. And alerts are gradually being lifted at other airports, notably Lyon Bron : " Resumption of traffic at Bron airport and normal traffic at Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport "said Aéroports de Lyon. Lille airport also announced at around 1pm that the Prefecture had given the go-ahead for staff and passengers to return to the airport.
L'Beauvais airport has updated its information message, which since Wednesday afternoon reads: " Now that the airport's infrastructure has been checked by the French government, the terminals are being reopened. The teams are doing their utmost to look after passengers whose flights have been affected. Thank you for your understanding." .
