This Thursday 3 May sees the start of a new round of strikes, both on the network SNCF and at Air France. On the rail network, SNCF expects to operate half of its planned TGV services. Internationally, 3 out of 5 trains should be able to accommodate business travellers. The network Lyria (2 out of 5 trains) and the France-Italy (1 in 3) will be most affected, while forecasts are fairly optimistic for Eurostar (4 out of 5) and Thalys (near-normal traffic).
In the air, Air France is also facing another day of strike action, as announced by the unions at the end of April. eve of referendum. The company plans to insure nearly 85 % of its flight programme. In detail, Air France forecasts 78 % on the long-haul network, 80 % for medium-haul flights to and from Paris-Charles de Gaulle and almost 90 % for short-haul flights between Paris-Orly and the provinces.
According to management, the strike rate for 3 May was 18.8 % for pilots, 18 % for cabin crew and 10 % for ground staff.
Strike action continues on 4 Mayduring which Air France should provide 75 % of its flight schedule:
- 80 % on the long-haul network
- 65 % on medium-haul flights to and from Paris-Charles de Gaulle
- 80 % for short-haul flights between Paris-Orly and the provinces
