Concur study: anticipating is not saving

Concur recently published a study analysing the link between the time taken to make a reservation and the price of a hotel room. Contrary to popular belief, the most far-sighted business travellers are not rewarded in terms of rates.

It is generally accepted, in the world of leisure as in that of business travel, that a early booking is synonymous withsavings. The latest Concur study challenges this logic, at least in the field ofbusiness hotels.

According to the specialist in travel and expense management solutions, the cost of a hotel room tends to fall as the date of departure approaches. At Germanyin Franceand even more so at United KingdomBusiness travellers seem to have an interest in keeping an eye on last-minute offers, as the following graph confirms:

According to this Concur study, one in four business travellers (24%) book their room between 15 and 30 days before departure. 13% of those surveyed wait until the last three days and only 3% of them dare to book on the big day.
