Ukraine: IHG continues its breakthrough in the east

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has just opened its first hotel in Kiev, Ukraine. Located in the heart of the historic Ukrainian capital, not far from the headquarters of major companies, embassies and ministries, the building has preserved the authentic and charming spirit of the area. "The location of the InterContinental Kiev could not be more strategic. Our doors open directly onto one of the city's most famous districts, and the façade's blend of classic and contemporary design blends perfectly with the cultural heritage of the area", says Leon Larkin, General Manager of the InterContinental Kiev. The 273 rooms and suites are decorated in shades of light blue and gold. The hotel also has three restaurants and a bar, as well as a spa and fitness centre. For the more studious, there is a fully-equipped conference centre and a function room for up to 450 people.

InterContinental Group is continuing its conquest of the countries of the former Soviet empire. In particular, it has opened seven hotels under different brands in Russia, where it plans to open fourteen new hotels between now and 2014.
