United Airlines recently unveiled plans to renovate its in-flight product on its international flights. First Class is the priority beneficiary of this programme with the launch of the United First Suite, in effect a complete redesign of the cabin for high-contribution passengers. "We have used customer feedback to design our new products and services in Business and First Class. Our aim is to increase on-board space and improve our range of services and facilities for premium international travel," said Graham Atkinson, United's Executive Vice-President and Chief Customer Officer. The First Suite reflects passengers' desire for more space. The seat is 7 cm wider than the previous model and extends a total of 198 cm in the bed position. Each suite is protected by a shell. Passengers will also find a 39 cm screen with interactive video, an electrical socket, a USB port, an iPod connection socket and several storage compartments. The aircraft will be equipped in the fourth quarter of 2007, representing an investment of 165 million dollars.
