The roadmap for Volotea is taking shape for 2025. Within a few hours of each other, the airline made two announcements aimed at French travellers. On Tuesday, the Bordeaux was the focus of attention. Next May, the low-cost airline will base a new aircraft (A320), its third, to further strengthen its offer at Gironde airport. To mark the occasion, Volotea ticked off five new destinations linked to Bordeaux next year. Starting with a flight Bordeaux-Marseille which will start on 30 May. Volotea will connect the two French airports four times a week (Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays). Malta (30 May), Bari (31 May), Alicante (31 May) and Alghero (4 July) complete the list of new destinations.

In total, Volotea will offer a "historic offer" of 1.2 million seats in Bordeaux by 2025. " The arrival of this new aircraft based in Bordeaux marks a significant step in Volotea's development at the airport, and we're very pleased about it! "says Cyrielle Clément, Route Development Manager at Bordeaux Airport. " Working closely with this partner, we are working to offer destinations that meet the needs of our region. The 5 new destinations planned for 2025, bringing the number of direct routes offered to 35, are a perfect illustration of this ambition. This represents an increase of +38 % in seats compared with last year and +71 % compared with the reference year 2019. This strengthening of the Volotea base in Bordeaux is also a strong signal for the economic and tourist dynamism of our region. ".

Gilles Gosselin underlines the company's leadership in Bordeaux: " Volotea is not just expanding its network: we are affirming our role as leader in Bordeaux by becoming the airline offering the largest number of destinations. "notes Volotea's Head of France. " We are strengthening our commitment to connecting the people of Bordeaux to France and Europe, while actively supporting the local economy with the creation of dozens of direct and indirect jobs. Volotea is not just an airline, it is a driving force behind the region's dynamism and a trusted partner for passengers and the Gironde community. This development would not have been possible without the unfailing support of Bordeaux Airport and its teams, with whom we have worked for over 10 years in a spirit of trust and partnership. Together, we are making an active contribution to raising the profile of the region and supporting its local vitality. ".

In the wake of this announcement, Volotea also affirmed its ambitions for Lyon airport. A new flight Lyon-Strasbourg will therefore make its debut on 4 April 2025. " For over 6 years now, Volotea has been developing connectivity in the Rhône-Alpes region. Gilles Gosselin points out. " Lyon is a very important base for our airline and we are delighted with the good results achieved in 2024. This future route to Strasbourg further strengthens our domestic network and marks another step forward in our commitment to offer our passengers diverse and varied horizons. "he continues.
