Volotea/Eurowings agreement to boost regional services between France and Germany

Hybrid carriers Eurowings and Volotea have just signed a memorandum of understanding that will see the opening of new routes, mainly between regional cities in France and Germany. The agreement will eventually cover more than 140 European routes operated by the two airlines, i.e. more than 100 routes operated by Eurowings and around 40 by Volotea.

The partnership signed with German low-cost carrier Eurowings allows Volotea to be present in Germany for the first time. Until now, the company has only operated regular charter flights on behalf of Airbus between Toulouse and Hamburg.

Volotea to offer eight new routes from Germany to France and Italywhere it operates from bases. The Spanish company will be offering Bordeaux, Lyon and Nantes to Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Stuttgart. These cities will also be served from Florence and Verona.

In detail, from 23 May, Volotea will launch the Bordeaux-Düsseldorf and Bordeaux-Stuttgart routes. Between 10 and 12 Octoberthe company will offer routes Bordeaux-Hamburg, Lyon-Berlin, Lyon-Hamburg and finally Nantes-Stuttgart. As usual, Volotea will offer two weekly flights on each of these new routes.

Prior to the signing of the agreement, Volotea announced last December that it would be launching a Toulouse-Hanover from 21 April with one flight a week.

140 Eurowings and Volotea routes on sale by the two airlines

Flights can already be booked on Volotea. At the same time, Eurowings plans to open up its distribution channels to Volotea. Booking on Eurowings should become effective at the end of April. These two booking channels will eventually enable customers of both airlines to book flights on the 140 combined routes of the two carriers.

Volotea is also continuing to expand on the France-Italy route. The Spanish carrier is launching on 27 May services between Paris CDG, Ancona and Olbia. It is also adding flights on Lyon-Florence and Lyon-Milan/Bergamo from April, a Nice-Olbia route in June and a Toulouse-Olbia in May. Each route has two flights a week.
