Office telephony goes hybrid, like the new range Zoom Phone Appliances unveiled on 9 June by the rising star in remote communications. It is based on terminals from Poly and Yealink - other suppliers are expected soon - and aims to "facilitate collaboration by blurring the lines between voice and video calls". In addition to traditional telephone calls, the newcomers can be used to set up HD video meetings and even interactive whiteboards. All enhanced by a touch-sensitive display for improved ergonomics.

The Zoom Phone Appliances offer draws on the technological expertise developed by the remote communications specialist. In particular, Zoom's managers are talking about devices that are always on, ready for instant collaboration, whether it's a simple voice calla meetingor a virtual communication involving a content sharing and annotations.

achieve more by blurring the line between voice and video

Available without an additional licence, this new solution enables centralised, scalable management, with updates carried out remotely via the Zoom administration portal. Zoom Phone Appliances are also personalized for each user, thanks in particular to synchronisation with each employee's calendar, status, meeting parameters and telephone.

"The traditional workplace is changing and our aim is to enable workers to achieve more by blurring the line between voice and video."says Graeme Geddes, head of Zoom Phone and Zoom Rooms at Zoom. "The new Zoom Phone Appliances programme offers a selection of Zoom Phone hardware specially designed by Poly and Yealink to simplify communications, eliminate friction and deliver a powerful communications experience."he adds.
