On 13 December, German ICE users will be able to enjoy additional services. Already with the introduction of the latest model of high-speed train. The Deutsche Bahn will run 50 ICE4 trains in 2021.
The ICE 4 offers greater comfort than current ICEs. Depending on the version, it can carry between 444 and 830 passengers. A very high-capacity version, the ICE 4-XXL, will also enter service next June on the Hamburg-Frankfurt-Basel-Zurich route and in September on the North Rhine-Munich route. This version will carry up to 918 passengers.
All ICE 4 trains offer more luggage space, "daylight" lighting and high-speed internet access. A new, more efficient on-board information system is continually updated.
Among the new additions to the network, DB will provide services every half-hour Berlin-Hamburg. This means 60 high-speed trains a day between the two cities, with a capacity of 6,000 extra seats.

There will also be increased density on the Berlin-Hanover-Cologne-Bonn with 14 ICE 4 trains per day, i.e. 17% more capacity than the current timetable. The line Murich-Zurich will now be served 12 times a day. The journey time will be cut from 4 hours 45 minutes to just four hours. DB has already announced that this journey time will be further reduced to just 3.5 hours by the end of 2021.
Other new features include an increase in the number of daily ICE services between Hamburg and Munich as well as the launch of a direct line from Berlin to Wroclaw and Krakow in Poland.
The new 2020/2021 timetable can be booked in branches or online from 13 October.
