For a very long time, this was the marketing argument foreasyJet. Passengers were allowed to travel with one piece of hand luggage, with no weight limit, but with dimensions that respected the size of the baggage compartments. The maximum size was 56 x 45 x 25 cm. (including handles and castors).
This rule will soon be obsolete. As indicated in a message sent by the airline to all its passengers, the luggage size will now be determined by the reserved seat. In other words, you will have to pay more to be able to take a piece of hand luggage with the above dimensions.
From 10 February In the next few days, all easyJet passengers will be able to board with one piece of hand luggage of a maximum size of 45 x 36 x 20 cm (including handles and wheels). However, there will still be no weight limit. The only requirement will be to be able to place your luggage under the seat in the previous row.
Exceptions to the baggage allowance for certain passengers
However, there will be exceptions. Customers who have booked a Up front seat or Extra legroom will still be able to take hand luggage of the previous dimensions. easyJet Plus cardholders and customers who have purchased a FLEXI can also bring two pieces of baggage on board. Depending on the tariff paidThis baggage will be transported free of charge or at a reduced cost.
Another possible exception, and probably the most economical one for passengers who do not wish to reserve seats: the Hands-Free option. The service costs eight euros. Passengers must then leave their hand baggage at the easyJet Plus baggage drop-off point in the check-in area. This service guarantees priority baggage delivery on arrival.
The commercial argument for this change is " improve punctuality and give customers certainty about what they are allowed to take on board" according to the message sent to customers.
