Study: is air travel for the privileged?

The study by the UK charity Possible wants to impose a tax on the most frequent passengers. It shows, with figures to back it up, that the majority of flights are made by a small elite of frequent flyers. One more stone in the garden of air transport?

Possible is a charity based in the United Kingdom working towards a decarbonised" British society. Its "A Free Ride" campaign aims to limit the use of environmentally damaging forms of transport. Air transport is naturally one of them.

But this campaign also includes - less frequently - theidea of social justice. The charity wants to show that aviation is the domain of a select few. And that this privileged few should pay more for the air pollution they generate.
